Stories for the Sidelined and Fearful
Fantasy stories of courage, whimsy, and hope about physically handicapped main characters you can relate to and root for.
Have you ever felt like you’re emotionally drowning? Alone? Afraid? Stuck?
You have dreams and goals, but they seem as unreachable as the stars.
You spend days battling a body that won’t listen to you, and as hard as you try to explain, you feel like no one really understands what you face because they can’t crawl inside you.
You want to escape to a different world, away from your problems, to gain a fresh perspective from someone like you. Someone who truly gets you.
So you’re tired of…
Reading another book with “angelic” handicapped characters only to feel like your own struggles have been grossly trampled on
Feeling sad because you can’t find more quality books with characters you can deeply relate to since their struggles aren’t like yours
Stuffing away your fears, hopes, and dreams from other people because books make them look invalid or weak
Doubting your worth as a person, and maybe even your beliefs, when books blur the lines between good and evil or unfairly portray certain people or types of individuals.
And you’re ready to…
Walk away from a book feeling seen, loved, and understood for who you are instead of feeling invisible
Believe that God made you beautiful, lovable, and valuable even in your limitations — especially in your limitations.
Get joyously lost in a vivid new world with characters you can relate with and root for — because they’re like you.
Finish a novel with renewed hope and a fresh perspective to take back with you into your daily life.

Hi, I’m Anna…
And I believe that if God says there’s beauty and strength even in physical handicaps, your bookshelf can, too.
I battle the not-so-fantastical beast of cerebral palsy (and the fears and struggles that come with it) every day, and it’s tiring.
Some days I just want to give up. The struggle doesn’t always appear worth the reward.
But you know what I’ve found? There’s a unique beauty and light — a strength — that we only find by facing the hard first. The courageous are born through facing their fears. The strong are forged through adversity.
That’s why I write.
Because I want to bring beauty into the broken things.

Here you’ll find…
-
Vibrant, God-honoring fantasy stories that respectfully dig into the reality of physical limitations and struggles without compromising the light of hope.
-
Main characters who wrestle with real fears and physical limitations without seeming too perfect.
-
Vivid, imaginative worlds that provide an uplifting escape from life’s challenges.
I do more than write my own stories. I mentor other young writers, too.
Because I’ve felt the frustration when story pieces don’t click the way you envisioned, yet you don’t know how to fix it. The discouragement after pouring hours of hard work into a story you love while only draining your creative energy to get what feels like little to show for the effort.
Giving up sometimes sounded better than constantly feeling stuck and alone.
Until my own writing mentor, Bethany J. Lincks, showed me how to implement everything I’d learned, using my specific stories — not just some generic example in a writing craft book.
She reignited my passion for stories because she helped me unlock their secrets.
That’s why I’m now a writing mentor myself. Because I love helping other young writers discover those secrets, too.
